Assignment: Project Reflection
Students will create a large "chandelier" art installation to portray the history of the universe. During phase one, small groups will make low-resolution prototypes of the structure and critique each others' work. During phase two, students will work on specific segments of the final installation.
Phase 1 - Prototypes
Students created low-resolution prototypes from cardboard. Each group decided how to divide the history of the universe, how to arrange the chandelier, and what art to include on each segment. Students presented their prototypes to their classmates.

Prototype Presentation Guidelines:
3
-all members speak
-show and explain prototype
-describe sections
4
-present as slideshow w/ photos of prototype, descriptions of sections
5
-give "pitch" of best aspects of prototype to include in final version

Phase 2 - Full Build
Students completed a survey about which piece/ring of the full scale chandelier they would like to work on. Based on their responses they were sorted into groups and began to conduct additional research, cut out large rings for the chandelier, and do exploratory art pieces. After one additional round of presentations and feedback they began the final versions.

The chandelier was hung for initial exhibition in the engineering classroom on December 14, 2017.
